Effects of Zinc and Calcium Concentration on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Hot-Rolled Mg-Zn-Ca Sheets

Four kinds of Mg alloys with different Zn and Ca concentration were selected to analyze the effect of Zn and Ca concentration on the microstructure and the mechanical properties of Mg-Zn-Ca alloys. It was found that Zn and Ca concentration has a great influence on the volume fraction, the morphology and the size of second phase. The Mg-1.95Zn-0.75Ca (wt%) alloy with the highest volume fraction, continuous network and largest size of Ca2Mg6Zn3 phase showed the lowest elongation to failure of about 7%, while the Mg-0.73Zn-0.12Ca (wt%) alloy with the lowest volume fraction and smallest size of Ca2Mg6Zn3 phase showed the highest elongation to failure of about 37%. It was suggested that uniform elongations of the Mg-Zn-Ca alloys were sensitive to the volume fraction of the Ca2Mg6Zn3 phases, especially the network Ca2Mg6Zn3 phases; post-uniform elongations were dependent on the size of the Ca2Mg6Zn3 phase, especially the size of network Ca2Mg6Zn3 phase. Reduction in Zn and Ca concentration was an effective way to improve the room-temperature ductility of weak textured Mg-Zn-Ca alloys.

Research on Deformation, Texture and Properties of IF Steel in Multiple Rolling Technology

The relationships among the deformation, texture and deep drawing properties of IF steel were investigated. By adopting double cold rolling (DCR) technology, the deep drawing property has been developed evidently. With the aid of orientation distribution function (ODF) analysis, it was found that the main reason for good property is the counterbalance in intensity of the ideal texture component {111}<011> and {111}<112>.

Influence of Microstructures and Textures on the Torsional Behavior of Pearlitic Wires

The microstructure, texture characteristics and torsion ability of two kinds of steel wires were investigated. The eutectoid steel wires were produced by hot and cold drawing with severe deformation. The torsinability of steel wires was measured under two cases, i.e. there exists either fiber texture or circular texture. The results showed that the torsional behavior of the steel wires was affected by their textures and microstructures. The {110}<110> circular texture weakened the torsion ability of the wires. The torsion fracture behavior of {110}<110> texture wires is related to the fact that only two slip systems were activated under simple shear strain deformation.

Effects of Chloride Ion on the Texture of Copper and Cu-ZrB2 Coatings Electrodeposited from Copper Nitrate Solution in Different Plating Modes

For the first time, the texture of copper and Cu-ZrB2 coatings produced from copper nitrate solution was studied. Chloride ion shows different effects on the deposit texture under direct current (DC) and pulse current (PC) conditions. Copper deposits are strongly <220> textured in DC plating with and without chloride ion. While in PC condition, the predominant texture shifts from <220> to <200> as the chloride ion concentration exceeds 20 mg/l. The addition of ZrB2 particles enhances the cathodic polarization of copper deposition, which improves the growth of (111) plane. However, this improvement can be eliminated by further addition of chloride ion.

Formation of Copper Type Texture in Cold Rolled Aluminum Sheet

The formation process of copper type rolling texture in f.c.c. metals was simulated based on a deformation model considering internal reaction stresses induced by the neighboring matrix as well as external shear stress induced by rollers. It is indicated that the external shear stress will reduce the brass type texture and increase the copper type texture obviously.

Experimental Study and Finite Element Polycrystal Model Simulation of the Cold Rolling Textures in a Powder Metallurgy Processed Pure Aluminum Plate

Ingot metallurgy (IM) aluminum has long been the subject and attracted the attention of many metallurgists and textural researchers of materials. Due to the introduction of large amounts of ex situ interfaces, however, the textures in powder metallurgy (PM) processed aluminum has been rarely reported. In this article, a pure aluminum plate was prepared $via$ PM route. The starting billet was first produced with uni-axially cold compaction and flat hot-extrusion and then followed by cold rolling processes. The hot-extruded and cold rolling deformation textures of the pure PM aluminum at 50%, 80% and 90% cold rolling reductions were studied by orientation distribution functions (ODFs) analysis. The finite element polycrystal model (FEPM) was finally utilized to simulate the cold rolling textural evolution at various stages of cold rolling. In FEPM simulation, the initial hot-extruded textures were taken into account as inputs. The results showed that typical β-fiber texture formed in pure PM aluminum with the cold rolling reduction increased till 80%, and there was not much change after excessive cold rolling deformation. Homogeneous slip is not the only deformation mode in PM processed pure aluminum plate at over 80% cold rolling reduction. The experimental results were qualitatively in good agreement with the simulated ones.

终轧温度对铁素体不锈钢00Cr21Mo1织构的影响

本文通过金相和EBSD等技术,观察了不同热轧终轧温度对00Cr21Mo1铁素体不锈钢热轧态、热轧退火态、冷轧退火态织构的变化的影响情况,并分析讨论了较高终轧温度下铁素体不锈钢00Cr21Mo1塑性应变比(Rm)较低的原因。结果表明,较低的终轧温度下,00Cr21Mo1热轧态组织形变带宽度较小,受轧辊切应变而形成的{110}<001>、{110}<112>、{4 4 11}<11 11 8>织构组分强度较小,且均匀、分散,最终冷轧退火态以{111}面织构为主,塑性应变比较高。

炭材料的基本结构单元是各向异性碳六角层面.基于择优取向的图型,炭材料中的纳米大小的组织(纳米组织)可分为沿面、轴和点的取向以及任意取向.从这种纳米组织的分类可以容易地了解到为什么炭材料能有如此多的形态:层片、纤维、球和不规则的粒子,以及为什么有如此宽广的性质.文中还简要地介绍了表征这些纳米组织的主要技术.

A Rate-Dependent Crystal Plasticity Analysis of Orientation Stability in Biaxial Tension of Magnesium

The development of texture during plastic deformation plays an important role in determining the stretch formability of magnesium alloy sheets. In this study, the orientation stability during equibiaxial tension of magnesium was analyzed based on three dimensional lattice rotations calculated by using a rate-dependent crystal plasticity model and assuming five different combinations of slip modes. The results show that no orientations can satisfy the stability criteria with both zero rotation velocity and convergent orientation flow in all dimensions. However, relatively stable orientations with zero rotation velocity and an overall convergence are found. They are featured by characteristic alignments of specific crystallographic directions in the macroscopic axis of contraction, depending on the slip modes involved in the deformation. It is also shown that the orientation stability varies significantly with the deviation of deformation mode from equibiaxial tension. The simulation results are briefly discussed in comparison with pre-existing experiments.

Microstructure, Textures and Deformation Behaviors of Fine-grained Magnesium Alloy AZ31

Channel die compression and initial textures are used to activate different deformation mechanisms in a fine-grained magnesium alloy AZ31. The $\sigma$-$\varepsilon$ curves, microstructures and, particularly, textures are analyzed to reveal different deformation mechanisms and to compare with those of coarse grained samples. Dominant double-prismatic slip, {101ˉ2} twinning and basal slip are detected in three types of samples, respectively, which is similar to those of coarse grained samples. The detrimental effect of shear band formation or {101ˉ1} twinning is limited in fine grained microstructure. In addition to the higher flow stress at low temperature an early decrease in flow stress at higher temperature is also found in fine-grained samples in comparison with their coarse-grained counterparts. This softening is ascribed to the early dynamic recrystallization or grain boundary glide.
