END GRAIN ATTACK OF LD10CS PLATES DURING CHEMICAL MILLING

The end grain attack of LDIOCS aluminium alloy plates during chemical milling in hot aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide has been studied.The results show that the microsegregation of some components,i.e.Cu,Si etc.,is the main reason of the end grain at- tack,and it is affected by the conditions of heat treatment as well.The end grain attack significantly diminishes while some technical measures which are beneficial to the reduce of segregation were taken during melting and casting.

INVESTIGATION ON LATER STAGE OF INTERMEDIATE TRANSFORMATION IN Fe-C-Mo ALLOYS

The transformation process and the products of long term isothermal transformation around the kinetic B_s temperature(the bay temperature in TTT diagram)in Fe-C-Mo alloys have been investigated.It was found that,at the final stage of intermediate transformation,a kind of granular structure formed accompanying the growth of bainitic ferrite.In comparison with the carbide Mo_2C in the bainitic ferrite plates or blocks,the carbide m granular eutectoid has been determined to be cementite containing a tiny bit of molvbdenum,(Fe,Mo)_3C.

THERMODYNAMICS OF V REDUCTION IN SMELTING REDUCTION SLAG FOR V-Ti-CONTAINING MAGNETITE

For slag system of CaO-SiO_2-Al_2O_3-MgO-V_2O_5,the time of V reduction to appro ch the dynamical equilibrium is about 6 h,the equilibrium time is not evidently influenced by the ratio CaO/SiO_2 and shortens with the increase of temperature.It the ratio of the weight of slag to that of iron bath is 1/2,CaO/SiO_2 0.8 and tomperature 1773 K.the maxium distribution coefficeent of V reduction is 32.4 and maxium recovery of V is 96.1%.

GROWTH MODE AND MODIFICATION OF GRAPHITE IN CAST IRON MELT

Using liquid quenching technique,the change of growth mode of graphite in cast iron melt was analysed.Based on the interface structure theory of crystal growth,the concept of multiplication of spiral growth steps was advanced and two basic multiplication models were given.It was proposed that multiplication of spiral steps is responsible for the change of growth mode of graphite in cast iron melt.The modifying elements such as Ce promote multiplication of spiral steps,which is regarded as the core of modification.Origination of screw dislocation and branch of the sector blocks in radius direction,both of which are essential to spheroidization of graphite in the melt,are caused by multiplication of spiral steps:and so is thickening of graphite plates.

STUDY OF SMELTING REDUCTION RATE FOR VANADIUM TITANIUM MAGNETITE

A comparative study was made of the reduction kinetics for high temperature smelting of vadium-titanium-containing magnetite,together with Hainan iron ore,using iron bath method.Three peaks were revealed on the reduction rate curves for the magnetite,while one peak only for Hainan ore.Under the same conditions,the smelting reduction rate of the magnetite was found to be lower than that of Hainan ore.The rate increases evidently with the increase of the bath volume.The expressions of smelting reduction rate were suggested for the reduction with and without iron bath respectively.

ELECTRON MICROSCOPE STUDY ON δ-EUTECTOID IN HIGH SPEED STEEL

The morphology and structure of δ-eutectoid and the transformation of δ-eutectoidic austenite in high speed steel have been studied under SEM and TEM.The δ-eutectoid in as-cast high speed steel is rod-shaped eutectoidic units with different orientations and is markedly surrounded by carbide shell.The eutectoidic carbide is rod-shaped M_6C of square eross section.The eutectoidic austenite may transform into pearlite structure during cooling.
