Theinvestigation of physicometallurgicalphenomena forthe CC formingof WCP/ Fe Ccom posites wasperformed. Resultsshow that underthe patentcondition, WCP/ Fe Ccomposite surfacelayerof16 20 m m heavycross sectioncan beacquiredintheoutsideofa hollow cylin der. The surface of CTC particlescould be partially dissolved by Fe containing melt. Thefineshortstick like WCcrystallitesarein situseparated neartothesurfaceof CTC particles.Far from the CTC particles,someseparated, finetungsten carbidecrystallitesand Fe, W,Mo and Cretc. containing web composite carbides, are distributed on the matrix of WCP/ Fe Ccomposite. Fe Calloy matrix of the hollow composite cylinder is alloyed in differenthigh levels.

Based on thelow temperaturecombustion synthesisof α Al2 O3 from aluminum nitrate,the effectsofthe additives on the formation and particle properties of α Al2 O3 werestudied by XRDand SEM,theinitialstudy on the manometer α Al2 O3 synthesisby LCSwas done, α Al2 O3 withtheparticlesize50 ~80 NM wasgot under properconditions.

CRYSTAL DEFECTS AND GRAIN INTERFACE STRUCTURE OF ION-NITRIDED LAYERS

Observation under high resolution electron microscope shows that the continuous bombing of high speed ions produces a great amount of vacant site defects.The assembly of vacancies forms vacant dish,and the collapase of vacant dish forms stacking fault tetrahedrons and oth- er crystal defects.The interfaces between phase ε(Fe_(2-3)N)and phase γ'(Fe_4N)are smooth, straight and coherent,and they have the orientation relationships of(11)//(0001)and [110]/[110] .

The synthesis and magnetic properties of Pr xCe 1 x Fe 2 have been investigated. The forma tion of Pr xCe 1 x Fe 2 is found to depend strongly on annealing temperature. Pure single phase compound can be synthesized at ambient pressure when x≤0 5. The main phase of the Laves structure can still be observed up to x=0 8. Magnetostriction increases with in creasing x and a largest saturation magnetostriction 200 ppm is observed for x=0.5.

The pulsed magnetic field induced martensitic transformation with isothermal and athermal kinetics in Fe-2Ni-4Mn(wt-%)alloy has been studied by means of magnetization measurements,optical microscopy and thermodymical analyses.It is shown that there exits a critical magnetic intensity for induing martensitic transformation at a given temperature above Ms.The critical magnetic field increases linearly with increasing ΔT= T-M_S.The magnetic field strongly promotes the athermal martensitic transforamtion and restrains the isothermal one.The entropy change ΔS for athermal transformation at Ms is 4.13 J/mol· K.The effect of magnetic field on martensitic transformation in Fe-21Ni-4Mn alloy is main- ly due to Zeeman effect.Lath,plate and butterfly martensities were observed under magnetic field.

A new phase was found at the interface between Al film and Ni substrate when the time of ion-plating reaches 5 min.It was identified to be body centered tetragonal lattice with the constants a=b=0.588 nm,c=0.480 nm.The variation of microstructure and phases with the ion-plating time were observed.Based on these results,the ion-plating film formation mech- anism has been also discussed.

The end grain attack of LDIOCS aluminium alloy plates during chemical milling in hot aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide has been studied.The results show that the microsegregation of some components,i.e.Cu,Si etc.,is the main reason of the end grain at- tack,and it is affected by the conditions of heat treatment as well.The end grain attack significantly diminishes while some technical measures which are beneficial to the reduce of segregation were taken during melting and casting.

The regularity of the carbonization process in alumina production has been summarized by the pattern recognition and regression.A mathematical model has been proposed to describe the factors affecting the silica content of aluminium hydroxide product.The high concentration of aluminate ions in solution will produce aluminium hydroxide with low content of SiO_2 under the condition of Al_2O_3/SiO_2 ratio kept unchanged.This was confirmed by certain scale experiments.

Partially amorphous Ni-Nb alloy was made by 1.91 kW cw CO_2 laser melt-quenching, and fully amorphous by 4.5 kW and 4.9 kW.The corrosion resistance of the amor- phous layer was improved by adding Cr.Potentiodynamic polarization curves show that the amorphous Ni_(50)Nb_(40)Cr_(10) is in more corrosion-resistant than the amorphous Ni_(60)Nb_(40)and 18-8 stainless steel.

The behavior of void swelling and segregation in Fe-15Cr-xMn alloys and an alloy con- taining small amount of W and V was investigated by electron-irradiation.The compositional analysis in the irradiated regions including grain boundaries was performed.The resultdts show that there are many common features of irradiuation tehavior in the Fe-Cr-Mn and Fe-Cr-Ni systems while there are some significant differences,In the Fe-Cr-Mn alloy sys- tems void swelling was rematrkably suppressed and at the same time the radiation-induced segregation was also retarded,furthermore,the segregation was strongly retarded in an Fe-15Cr-15Mn alloy containing small amount of W and V.The results also show that Ni re- placed by Mn does not in general confer immunity from either swelling or phase instabilities. The phase instability is due to the different diffusion behavior of Ni and Mn in reponse to the operation of the inverse-Kirkendall effecr.Fe segregates to the microstructural sinks in the Fe-Cr-Mn alloys.The segregation of Fe often leads to the formation of ferrite.This fact is beneficial to reducing the swelling rate and segregation on the grain boundaries.
