The effect of grain boundaries on cyclic deformation and fatigue crack growth in aluminum bicrystals has been studied.The effect of a grain boundary is restricted in a narrow area, termed as grain boundary affecting zone(GBAZ),where the incompatible plastic strain treats internal stress which conversely promotes inhomogeneous slip in the area and grain boundary cracking.As an extended stage I crack initiated from a notch approaches the grain boundary under a constant cyclic stress,the crack front branches splits into several pieces, meanwhile,the growth rate of the crack reduces to a minimum value at the center of the GBAZ.Such microstructure-sensitive growth of extended stage I cracks is mainly attributed to the grain boundary-induced crack tip sheilding.

A dynamic process of the martensitic transformation in(Y,Mg)-PSZ ceramics was observed in situ using TEM.Under the effect of contact stress between tetragonal(t)-ZrO_2 precipi- tates,a group of substructural martensite variants may occur priorly and then another one was induced by the elastic strain relaxation,both form(100)_m twins further.In addition,the crystallography of the martensitic transformation was also discussed.

The high efficient blowing technique includes increasing oxygen supply intensity and optimizing slag forming. The oxygen supply intensity on 300t converters of No1 steelmaking shop at Bao Steel reaches 3.83 Nm3/t.min, and at Taiyuan Steel, Lianyuan Steel, Pinxiang Steel and other steel plants, the oxygen supply intensity on medium converters is in the range of 4.0-4.4 Nm3/t.min. The productivity of converter can be increased by 8-15% with adoption this technique. The whole technique, including design and manufacture of lance nozzle with reasonable pacnolontenue of outlets, technique of oxygen supply and slag forming, has been developed by CISRI to meet the need of technique transfer.
