Output Model of Steel Plant

Based on the requirement of compactivity, continuity, and high efficiency, and taking full advantage of cushion capability of flexible parts such as external refining in new generation steel plant, an output model of steel plant was established in terms of matching between BOF and caster. Using this model, the BOF nominal capacity is selected, the caster output and equipment amount are computed, and then the steel plant output is computed.

Application of Argan plant extract as green corrosion inhibitor for steel in 1 mol/L HCl

The effect of Argan plant extract (APE) on the corrosion of the steel in hydrochloric acid medium was studied using gravimetric, electrochemical polarization and impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. Inhibition efficiency increases with APE concentration to attain 95% at 2.5 g/L. We note good agreement between gravimetric and electrochemical methods (potentiodynamic polarization and EIS). Effect of temperature is also made in the 298-328 K range. Polarization measurements show also that APE act as a mixed inhibitor. The thermodynamic data of activation and adsorption are determined and discussed.

Characterisations of electrospark deposition Stellite 6 alloy coating on 316L sealed valve used in nuclear power plant

In nuclear plant the protection of the H(2)BO(4) solution seal areas of AISI 316L austenitic steel is accomplished by Stellite 6 plasma cladding layer. Wear defects created in service required the part to be replaced or repaired. No existing repair technologies were practical. Electrospark deposition (ESD) was to repair defects, enabling the parts to be placed back in service. In this paper the authors report the results obtained depositing directly a layer of Stellite 6 alloy onto a 316L austenitic stainless and Stellite 6 plasma cladding layer by using ESD technique. Electrospark deposition can apply metallurgical bonded coatings without the need of post-heat treatment. Structure, hardness, chemical composition and morphology of the ESD coating have been analysed. By electrochemical measurements it is inferred that the corrosion resistance of the ESD coating is comparable to that of the 316L and Stellite 6 plasma cladding layer. The hardness improvement was ascribed to the refine microstructure and the rapid solidification.

New Development of Acid Regeneration in Steel Pickling Plants

For acid pickling heat treated mild steel and steel products, up to the middle of the last century, sulfuric acid was primarily in use, which has been replaced stepwise by hydrochloric acid since the sixties. During this time, the pickling of high alloyed steel with hydrofluoric acid or mixtures for hydrofluoric acid together with nitric acid has also been applied on industrial scale. The technologies used by several plant contractors hereby show considerable differences in their engineering. The study provides a survey of the progress in the state of art of regeneration technology as well as the use of different pickling media in the form of a review on existing technologies as well as improvements done within the recent years in the area.

Steel-Making and Continuous/Ingot Casting Scheduling of Mixed Charging Plan Based on Batch Splitting Policy

For steel-making and continuous/ingot casting are the key processes of modern iron and steel enterprises, this paper proposes a batch splitting schedule policy to solve continuous and ingot casting schedule of mixed whole/half charging plan for steel making. First establish the model of continuous and ingot casting schedule of mixed whole/half charging plan according to the complex constraints. Then solve this model by heuristic algorithm. Finally use actual data to prove the proposed algorithm′s validity and analyze the application result in steel plant.
