以新疆乌兰林格提纯膨润土为原料,经NaNO3钠化改性、十六烷基三甲基氯化铵和十八烷基三甲基氯化铵2种季铵盐有机改性得到有机膨润土,考察了反应条件对有机膨润土性能的影响;用该有机土改性市售乳胶漆,考察了有机膨润土对乳胶漆性能的影响.实验表明:较优的有机化反应条件为浆液pH为9、反应温度为60℃、反应时间为1.5h,由此得到的有机膨润土的性能远优于行标;当十八烷基三甲基氯化铵有机膨润土的用量为4%时,乳胶漆的黏度、耐溶剂性、耐磨性、耐冲击性分别提高了144%、80%、74%、120%,指标符合国家标准.
