Amodelbasedonthebath-smeltingprocessfortheproductionofqualitysteelshasbeendevelopedconsideringnon-stoichiometricsystem.Thethermodynamicfunctionofslaghasbeenusedtocalculattheactivitiesa(i)ofcomponentspresentintheslagandmetal.Todeterminethevalencyoftheelementsinbathslagandmetalphase,anexperimentalmethodhasbeensuggested.
