One of the most important features in corrosion of metal is the acid-base reaction with which the corrosion processes of metal and the interaction between the metal surface and the inhibitor can be understood easily and thoroughly. Acid-base theory is also helpful in selecting the proper inhibitor for a particular environment. The application of acid-base theory in the corrosion of metal was reviewed in this article.
