Potentiostatic current oscillation of iron electrode in 0.5 mol/l sulfuric acid solution in half open microenvironment is studied. Results show that the microenvironment at the vicinity of the electrode has an important effect on current oscillation. The rate of mass transport of the Fe2+ and H+ can influence the oscillation period: the more difficult the migration of the Fe2+ and H+ ions, the longer the oscillation period. Digital holography is used to study the dynamic changes at the electrode/solution interface during current oscillation. This new method offers a new approach to studying the influence of mass transport on current oscillation.
