The effect of reheat temperature on the domestic T23 steel’s reheat cracking susceptibility was studied by the Y-slit type cracking test, and the reheat cracking formation mechanism of T23 steel was discussed. The results show that the domestic T23 steel has reheat cracking susceptibility when the reheat temperature ranges from 550 ℃ to 690 ℃. The reheat cracking susceptibility reaches the highest at 620 ℃,while there is no generated cracks when the reheat temperature is 760 ℃. It is believed that the grain boundary weakening and intragranular strengthening are the internal reasons for the formation of T23 steel’s reheat cracking. The external reason is welding residual stress caused by the high restraint.
