Progress in research on atmospheric corrosion of weathering steelin recent years is reviewed, with focus on research methods of appraising atmospheric causticity and analysis of the microstructure and formation mechanism of rust layer. Furthermore, how to protect the steel against atmospheric corrosion is analyzed.
