聚合物分散液晶(PDLC)是液晶微滴分散在聚合物基体中形成的一种新型显示材料.文章采用可逆加成断链转移(RAFT)聚合法制备大分子引发剂,引发可聚合单体甲基丙烯酸甲酯进行聚合,利用光引发聚合诱导相分离法制备了PDLC膜.通过改变大分子引发剂的含量和种类,研究了基体分子量及极性对PDLC迟滞效应的影响.实验结果显示,聚合物基体的参数对PDLC的迟滞效应有显著影响,迟滞效应随着基体分子量的下降而明显增大,而降低基体的极性可以明显减小PDLC的迟滞效应.
Polymer dispersed liquid crystal(PDLC) films are particular devices consisting of micrometer-sized liquid crystal droplets dispersed in a polymer matrix. In this paper, PDLC films were prepared by photo-polymerization induced phase separation which were initiated by macroinitiator prepared by reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer(RAFT) poly-merization. The influence of matrix molecule weight and polarity on the hysteresis effect of PDLCs was investigated. The results showed that parameters of the polymer matrix can sig-nificantly affect the hysteresis of PDLCs. Hysteresis increased as the molecule weight of the matrix decreased, and the decrease of the polarity of polymer matrix can efficiently reduce he hysteresis effect of PDLCs.
