Precious metal jewelry is a kind of noble and lasting consumer product with aesthetic value. X-ray fluo-rescence spectrometry is prominent in non-destructive analysis and fast detection, and thus especially applicable to jewelry appraisal. This paper reviews the application of X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy in the detection of precious metal jewelry at home and abroad. The common problems of X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy are analyzed in hope of providing reference for the precious metal jewelry inspection operators.
