西掌金铜矿床位于云南省云县-景洪火山弧Cu多金属矿带，是与印支期中酸性次火山岩密切相关的浅成低温热液型矿床。金铜矿脉主要受近东西向构造破碎带控制，产于上三叠统小定西组第二亚段粗面玄武岩夹凝灰岩中。矿化主要集中在多期断裂构造复合与多阶段火山岩脉叠加部位。通过对西掌金铜矿区地质地球化学特征的研究，认为西掌村找矿靶区内Ⅰ号金异常具有一定的找矿潜力。
Xizhang Au-Cu Deposit is located in Yunxian-JingHong ( volcanic arc ) Cu polymetallic ore belt in Yun County ,Yunnan Province ,and is a low temperature hypabyssal hydrothermal type deposit closely related to acidic sub -volcanic rocks of indosinian period .Au-Cu veins are mainly controlled by the near EW trending tectonic fracture zone , which are found in the rough surface basalt tuff in the second sub-segment ,Xiaodingxi Group ,upper Triassic .Minerali-zation mainly concentrates in the combination of multi-phase tectonic fracture structures and the overlaps of multi-stage volcanic rock veins .
