The local compressibilities of Cr3+ and Mn4+ octahedral clusters in YAlO3 crystal are investigated by means of the pressure-induced (R) over bar -line shifts. The results suggest that the local compressibility changes from cluster to cluster and both compressibilities of 3d(3) impurity clusters are smaller than that of the corresponding Al3+ octahedral cluster in the host YAlO3 crystal.
